Coach Sam Hess
ISKA World champion
I began my martial arts journey at the age of 4. I started training in a traditional style called Tang Soo Do. Once I achieved my Black belt I then moved on to Kuk sool won. During those years as a traditional martial artist I competed at the highest levels. Including having the privilege of being one of ten people throughout the country to be chosen for the 1993 US National Tang Soo Do Team. I have also been a multi-event world champion in Kuk Sool Won multiple times, and even the ISKA world champion one year.
One day I started to realize I was only learning a very small portion of whole that is the martial arts world and so I started looking to branch out again. During this time I was lucky enough to be introduced to Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Kickboxing. Which is where my eyes and my mind really started to open to the idea that martial arts isn’t something static but rather something that is constantly evolving and to include yourself into this world and this lifestyle is to start a journey that never stops and is constantly evolving.
It is for that reason that I love to teach and to see the benefits of this world help people of all ages evolve into someone with the strength both inside and out to deal with the world of today and all of the unfortunate and crazy things that are happening. There is no greater joy in life than giving someone the tools and knowledge to better themselves and to watch them use those tools to help others.
